Privacy Policy

Eden Index has no user accounts, no login, and no sign-up. The app doesn't ask for your location. It doesn't include any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting software. It has exactly one network destination — our own API at api.clerkofeden.com — and that API is unauthenticated, so nothing you do in the app is tied to an identity we hold.
The rest of this page explains that in detail and covers the ordinary things any website does, like keep web server logs.
If you create a custom weighting or save a list of places, that's stored locally on your device in a local database. It is never sent to our servers — we have no way to see it, back it up, or restore it if you delete the app. That's also why it doesn't sync between devices.
When the app needs data we don't ship on-device — raw indicator values, the hazard breakdown, recreation sites, basemap imagery — it requests it from api.clerkofeden.com. That request is an ordinary HTTPS request: it carries your IP address (as every internet request does), a timestamp, the specific endpoint requested (for example, a county's detail page), and your device's user-agent string. It does not carry a name, an email address, an account identifier, or your location.
Our web and API servers keep standard access logs — the information above — for approximately 14 days for operational purposes: diagnosing problems, rate-limiting abusive traffic, and keeping the service available. After that, logs are rotated away and not kept.
Static files (map tiles and published data artifacts) are served from a cloud object storage bucket (DigitalOcean Spaces) rather than directly from our own servers. That provider sees the same ordinary request information — IP address, timestamp, the file requested — that any file host sees when it serves a file, under its own standard hosting practices. We don't send it anything beyond that.
We don't use any other third-party service that receives data about how you use the app.
Eden Index isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the app collects no accounts, no location, and no personal information from anyone by design, there is nothing to be collected in the first place.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We'd only expect that to happen if the app's data practices actually change — for example, if a future version added an account system, this page would be rewritten to describe it before that version shipped.
